This “two-for-one” approach is a rarity in the legal world, giving clients the benefit of dual perspectives, combined 50+ years of experience, and an unwavering support
system.
Yin & Yang in Action
While Cynthia leans on her psychology background to foster empathy and calm, Ginger’s deep courtroom experience fuels her fearlessness in litigation. It’s the perfect blend of compassionate counsel and tenacious advocacy—every strategy is tested through both lenses, ensuring the most robust solutions possible.
Collaboration Equals Confidence
From a quick text to a deep-dive strategy session, Cynthia and Ginger actively share insights to move cases forward in the most effective way. They believe in removing barriers: if one is busy, the other steps up, so clients are never left waiting or wondering. At Johnson Carroll Law, you truly gain two attorneys for the price of one.

Ginger Johnson
Partner, Johnson Carroll Law | Family, Criminal & Personal Injury Attorney
Ginger West Johnson’s story begins with a dream delayed. She planned to graduate high school at 16, but her mother’s difficult separation from a con artist meant Ginger had to work full-time, postponing college for several years. That real-world lesson on how the legal system often fails disadvantaged families became the catalyst for her lifelong mission: to advocate for those who need it most.
Ginger has been immersed in law for most of her adult life—starting as a legal assistant at 19 and earning her Juris Doctor from LSU Law 29 years ago. She has practiced in diverse areas, from civil rights and employment discrimination to criminal defense and family law, always with one core objective: to be her clients’ voice in the courtroom.
Versatile Practice & Courtroom Passion
Though Ginger initially wanted to be a tax attorney, a love of trial work and negotiations quickly drew her to litigation. Early in her career, she fought to protect workers facing discrimination and bullying. Since then, she has successfully defended clients in criminal cases, including those wrongly accused of life-changing crimes. She handles family law matters with equal vigor—focusing on preserving relationships when possible so clients can co-parent effectively long after the case ends.
Philosophy & Approach
Guided by the Louisiana Bar Association’s standards—and her personal “Do No Harm” philosophy—Ginger is meticulous about case preparation and transparent client communication. She doesn’t sugarcoat tough news or play to “win at all costs.” Instead, she prioritizes her clients’ best interests, ensuring every angle is covered and every call is returned. Her passion for people shines through her daily mantra: “I GET to do this job.”
Personal Highlights
Originally from Plaquemine (near Baton Rouge), Ginger proudly embraces her Cajun heritage. She loves the outdoors—especially skiing, hiking, and camping—and takes a “work hard, play hard” approach to life. During downtime, Ginger indulges her crafty side by making jewelry and traveling whenever she can, returning with fresh perspectives that fuel her passion for advocacy.
Cynthia Carroll
Partner, Johnson Carroll Law | Family Law Attorney & Mediator
Cynthia Carroll’s path to becoming an attorney has all the flair of an “Elle Woods” moment—she’ll happily admit she woke up one day and simply decided on law school. But beneath that playful story lies a serious passion sparked by To Kill a Mockingbird and the O.J. Simpson trial. With a B.A. in Psychology from Southern Methodist University (SMU), Cynthia recognized early how her empathetic nature and analytical skills could make a difference in the legal world.
Today, Cynthia brings 25 years of legal experience to families throughout Shreveport and Bossier City. She’s practiced in both Texas (since 2000) and Louisiana (since 2003) and has repeatedly been honored as one of SB Magazine’s Top Lawyers—making history as the first woman to run for district and city judge in Bossier. Clients quickly learn that Cynthia’s signature qualities are compassion, clear communication, and fierce advocacy.
Family Law & Mediation
Equipped with a mediation certification and a background in psychology, Cynthia specializes in Family Law because it allows her to guide clients through life’s most challenging moments—while championing peaceful resolutions whenever possible. She firmly believes in minimizing collateral damage, especially when children are involved, and has successfully helped countless families transition from high-conflict situations to harmonious co-parenting.
Philosophy & Approach
Cynthia’s guiding principle is simple: do the right thing. She treats clients with the kindness and empathy she’d expect in their shoes. She’s also the first to pick up the phone or answer an email, ensuring clients never feel left in the dark. Whether it’s a custody dispute, a personal injury case, or a criminal defense matter, Cynthia’s goal is always to empower her clients and bring a sense of hope to the legal process.
Outside the Office
Born and raised in Dallas with three brothers, Cynthia jokes that growing up “pretty tough” turned her into the unflinching advocate she is today. Outside of work, she’s an animal lover who volunteers at local rescues like King Dog Rescue and Shreveport Bossier Animal Rescue. A self-described “extroverted introvert,” Cynthia loves a good true-crime binge, quoting ‘80s/’90s movies, and spending quality time with her close-knit circle of friends and family.
Community Impact & Values
Roots in Louisiana
Both Cynthia and Ginger are proud to serve the communities of Shreveport, Bossier City, and beyond. From hometown roots to heartfelt causes, they’ve built Johnson Carroll Law on a commitment to improving the lives of those around them.
Giving Back
Animal Rescue Efforts:
Cynthia actively supports King Dog Rescue and Shreveport Bossier Animal Rescue, volunteering time and raising funds to help local animals find safe, loving homes.
Fundraising Events:
Both partners frequently join or host community events—like Ginger’s family golf tournament—to bolster local causes and organizations.
Empowering Families & Individuals
Whether they’re guiding parents toward peaceful co-parenting, defending the wrongly accused, or fighting for fair treatment in the workplace, Cynthia and Ginger view legal advocacy as a calling. By practicing mediation, seeking equitable resolutions, and prioritizing mental well-being, they strive to uplift every client who walks through their doors.
At Johnson Carroll Law, we believe in doing more than ‘winning’—we believe in helping you rebuild, redefine, and rediscover what’s possible.
